First Day(s)/Daze 12--I think--June 2013

Today is difficult to define because of the time zones traversed in the last...wait let me try and count...28 hours. Better to define by places! San Francisco, New York City, Dublin.

Before I go any further, let me apologize to the poor woman whose head I was standing next to in the New York subway train for 40 minutes. I'd spent a good 12 hours eating nothing but cashews and protein bars, followed by a quick pizza and gelato run in NYC between flights. Let's just say, it put the "intense" in "intestines." :-/

At any rate, we've had a packed 28 hours with not much--any?--sleep, so it's not quite 9 pm here and we're ready to crash for the night. The highlight of today has been hearing people speak with an Irish accent. I know I know, typical of an American, but I just melted when a fatherly-type at the table next to us parted ways by saying to me, "Nice ta meetcha dairlin'!"

The big tourist thing we did today was take a 2.5 hr historic walking tour of Dublin's city center. Several thousand years of history with revolutions, art, technological inventions (such as the pneumatic tire and the formula for calculating 3D images), religion, invasions, government (wait I just said that), architecture...what a fascinating place.

I can't give you photos we took because I'm not using my mobile to capture them, but you'd probably be bored by seeing a slide show of my Full Irish Breakfast (eaten for lunch) and a bunch of old stones piled on each other (just a really old wall).

Tomorrow we go into the countryside on this tour: newgrangetours.com  Should be fantastic!

Oh, btw, I hear our kids are doing well with the family back home. Only 28 (ish) hours in and we're having a fantastic time!

G'night!

Edit: My mobile didn't work with our hotel wifi, so I'm publishing this Thursday morning from the tour bus! What a thoughtful idea for them to include wifi.

Today Is a Good Day, 11 June 2013

Today is a big day!! Jay and I head to Ireland and the United Kingdom for two week...without G and Z! We're either extremely insane or completely sane for getting away on our own. The trip is in honor of our 10th wedding anniversary, which we had in October of this past year.

We'll be boarding our first flight soon! I'm not taking a computer, so blogging will be done from my little mobile device, and hence limited. But here's a pic to get us started.  Our luggage in its entirety! Yes, the roll technique is a lifesaver. Bon voyage!
